It was a cool and crisp morning in Istanbul. I made my way to the Hagia Sofia in Istanbul, the crown jewel of the city. Walking through cobble-stone streets I felt as if I had suddenly been transported back to the times of the Ottomans.Read More
I’ve just returned from a few days layover in Istanbul. My most memorable experiences in Istanbul were eating the delicious kebabs, seeing the ice cream performers, and seeing the grandeur of Hagia Sophia from the inside.Read More
Hear that? It’s opportunity knocking on your door.
You’re not ready you say. You’ve been wanting this exact thing but you feel like you need to be prepared and to be ready for it. Today isn’t the right time, you think to yourself. The negative voices in your head all of a sudden come alive and flood you with reasons why you should avoid the situation altogether but deep down in your heart, you know this is exactly what you have been preparing for. This is your opportunity knocking. You realize this is your moment. Will you seize the opportunity?Read More
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you had a challenging week.
In a good way of course. This is a reminder to seek out and jump on opportunities to expand your comfort zone.
I have been selected to present my talk You Too Can Be A Sketching Machine! as a webinar. This is my next big challenge.
It is a challenge to present in front of a live audience and even more challenging when there is nobody in front of in person. During a webinar presentation, you can't count on things such as eye contact, body language, or instant feedback on your ideas, but this is a new experience which will help me grow and improve my presentation skills.
Your Turn: Over the weekend, think of experiences you would like to have to help you expand your comfort zone.
Now go out there and do it! 💪
Anyone can sketch.
Practice sketching on a daily basis to gain the confidence you need to sketch on the spot without any hesitation. By learning and understanding the importance of sketching in the design process you will be able to develop a sketching mindset.
Some characteristics of a sketching mindset are:
- Sketching consistently
- Embracing the imperfections in your sketches
- Valuing the sketch, instead of the tools used
- Valuing the idea, instead of the sketch
- Experimenting with your tools and sketches
- Seeking feedback on your sketches
- Encouraging others to share their ideas by sketching
- Understanding the iterative process of sketching
- Sketching with the audience in mind
- Making sketching an inclusive activity
With a sketching mindset, you will have a powerful tool at your disposal and use to ideate, explore, and share your ideas.
Want to get better at sketching? As with any other endeavor, the only way to get better is to sketch consistently. A 30-day sketching challenge will help you get in the habit of sketching every day. https://buff.ly/2Fybxjf Never underestimate the compounding power of small actions done consistently. By the time you’re done with the challenge you will have made it a habit to sketch daily. As you progress through the challenge, you will notice your sketching abilities improve which in turn will help you sketch with more confidence. #ux #ui #design #development #userresearch
